About
Kathryn Freeland had the idea for a fitness & wellbeing retreat whilst stressed out, a few months before her wedding (that she was organising) and simultaneously purchasing Stede Court. She needed to get away, without the stress of an airport, she wanted balance & a mixture of exercise not a shouty bootcamp nor 5am yoga and she wanted tasty, healthy food that she could recreate at home. She needed tranquillity and a personalised itinerary to rejuvenate her back to being her best self
In 2016, Kathryn moved back to Kent and in 2019, she launched Stede Court Private Fitness Retreat offering day & residential fitness and wellbeing retreats & personal training where guests receive a 100% bespoke experience

“Trish and I escaped to the country on a wellness retreat with the fabulous personal trainer Kathryn Freeland.
We had laughs aplenty, did yoga in the daffodils & on the decking, had a sauna and some cold water dipping (more than once), ate delicious food and did a fitness work out in the woods/outdoor HIIT, & meditation with award winning trainer Kathryn Freeland, a midlife warrior of the best kind herself.

“I booked Stede Court for a private weekend for me and my girlfriends having spent time with Kathryn at previous fitness retreats.
If anything this was even better than before! Kathryn and Andy are perfect hosts, the food was delicious (and plenty!) and the exercise was tailored to exactly what everyone wanted (not easy with 7 quite different guests).
Kathryn is truly an exceptional personal trainer, equal parts giggles and hard work.
I cannot recommend Stede Court enough for a weekend away of pampering and work outs (not often you get both!) that feels like a week away!”

stede court
Built in 1623, Stede Court is a grade 2 listed beautiful & happy house with lots of history & character – old doors, inglenook fireplaces, stained glass window, wonky floors, beams and thankfully high ceilings. It has 5 bedrooms with 4 double bedrooms available for guests, 3 bathrooms and a separate cloakroom
Kathryn lives here with her husband Andy and their black Labrador
The house is set within 7 secluded & private acres comprising an acre of formal garden with a swimming pond, yoga & sun deck, luxury outdoor sauna, pergola & hammock, Kentish oast and granary oast. The garden is surrounded by a 6-acre sheep field with running / walking track & mindfulness treehouse and wildlife pond Kathryn has designed a highly effective exercise trail in their woodlands overlooking the new swimming pond and within the privacy of their gardens and field, with functional exercise stations adaptable for all fitness abilities and ages
“After spending the previous year and a half on and off marathon training – my drive and enjoyment of running – well fitness in general had started to wane. I needed some R&R and wanted to get away from it all somewhere remote.
Stede Court Private Fitness Retreat was just the ticket – a 2 day bespoke retreat – the home of personal trainer Kathryn Freeland – one of the wittiest and most empathetic women I’ve ever met. The retreat is designed to be whatever you need it to be.”
